With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tomasina Hernandez de Duran, who peacefully departed this life on October 9, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Born on December 20, 1943, in the Dominican Republic, Tomasina immigrated to the United States at a young age, where she built a life full of love, joy, and generosity.

Tomasina is survived by her beloved husband, Francisco Duran; her sons,  the late Thomas Duran and Frank Duran (Virginia Pina); her daughter, Elda Duran (Marlon Moran); seven cherished grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Daisy Polanco. and a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. 

Known for her love of family and togetherness, Tomasina cherished having a full house where laughter and conversation flowed freely. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—solving puzzles, coloring, playing dominoes, and spending hours chatting on the phone with her close friends. Her outgoing nature and generous spirit were a source of warmth for all who knew her.

A talented cook, Tomasina was famous for her culinary skills, though she often delighted in the creations of other family members. Despite facing many years of health challenges, her resilient spirit and love for life never wavered.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love, kindness, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3-6 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608.

Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Tomasina Hernández de Durán, quien partió de este mundo en paz el 9 de octubre de 2024 en el Hospital de Bridgeport, en Bridgeport, CT. Nacida el 20 de diciembre de 1943 en la República Dominicana, Tomasina emigró a los Estados Unidos a una edad temprana, donde construyó una vida llena de amor, alegría y generosidad.

Tomasina es sobrevivida por su amado esposo, Francisco Durán; sus hijos, el difunto Thomas Durán y Frank Durán (Virginia Piña); su hija, Elda Durán (Marlon Morán); siete nietos queridos y cuatro bisnietos. También le sobreviven su hermana, Daisy Polanco, y una gran cantidad de otros familiares y amigos que la extrañarán profundamente.

Conocida por su amor a la familia y el compañerismo, Tomasina apreciaba tener una casa llena donde la risa y la conversación fluían libremente. Encontraba alegría en los placeres simples de la vida: resolver rompecabezas, colorear, jugar al dominó y pasar horas charlando por teléfono con sus amigas. Su naturaleza extrovertida y espíritu generoso fueron una fuente de calidez para todos los que la conocieron.

Una cocinera talentosa, Tomasina era famosa por sus habilidades culinarias, aunque a menudo disfrutaba de las creaciones de otros miembros de la familia. A pesar de enfrentar muchos años de desafíos de salud, su espíritu resiliente y amor por la vida nunca flaquearon.

Su presencia será profundamente extrañada, pero su amor, bondad y fortaleza continuarán viviendo en los corazones de todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.
