Shannon Belton

August 18, 1989 — January 13, 2025

In loving memory of Shannon Belton, born on August 18, 1989, in the vibrant heart of New Haven, Connecticut, we gather to reflect upon the profound impact she had on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Shannon's journey, marked by determination and grace, came to a close on January 13, 2025, in the compassionate care of St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, after a long, courageous battle that showcased her unwavering spirit.

Shannon was a bright star in the lives of her parents, Michele Finelli-Barnes and Gregory Barnes, who nurtured her passion for learning and encouraged her aspirations. As a testament to her dedication, she attended Franklin School in Stratford, CT, before graduating from Bullard Havens Vocational Technical High School in Bridgeport, CT, as part of the Class of 2008, where she channeled her talents into electrical studies. Her educational journey also included significant participation in the Job Corps, demonstrating her commitment to personal and professional growth.

But perhaps her proudest achievement was the cherished role she embraced as a mother to her beloved daughter, Gabriella Belton. To Shannon, being a mother was not just a duty; it was her greatest accomplishment, a source of unending joy and purpose that colored her world with love and laughter.

In the sphere of companionship, Shannon was a steadfast friend, someone who could always be relied upon to lend an ear or share a laugh. She was a loyal fan of the enchanting he Harry Potter series, wherein she found delight, mystery and inspiration.

Shannon's life also encompassed the honor of service as a military wife, embracing the demands and sacrifices that such a role entails with unyielding strength and support for her spouse, Alexander Belton.

As we remember Shannon, we are also reminded of the rich tapestry of her family, which included her brother, Gregory Barnes Jr., uncles Robert Barnes (Michelle), Steven Barnes (Sandy), Michael and Jason Finelli, as well as a myriad of cousins, nephews, and nieces who will carry her legacy forward in their hearts.

Shannon Belton is survived by a loving network of family and friends who will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, her unwavering courage, and the warmth she radiated.  As we celebrate her life, let us hold fast to the love she imparted and the strength she exemplified, for Shannon will forever be a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her and in the life of her precious daughter Gabriella.

A memorial service in honor of Shannon's beautiful life will be held privately.
