Sandra Thomas, or "Sandy" as she was known, was a remarkable woman known for her sense of adventure and huhumormor and family, has passed away at the age of 77. Born on August 9, 1946, in the City of Bridgeport, Sandra was the beloved daughter of William Thomas and Sandra Chapar Hawkins.
From a young age, Sandra displayed an unwavering determination and a zest for life. She attended Central High School and later graduated from Trumbull High School. Upon graduation she discovered that the emerging demand for air travel in 1963 provided an unusual opportunity for her to spread her wings. At the tender age of 17, she was accepted to flight attendant school and soon after became a stewardess for Trans World Airlines (TWA). Her time in the aviation industry allowed her to explore new horizons and embrace diversity through her interactions with people from all walks of life. Her extraordinary work ethic and culinary skills led her to become a private flight attendant and Chef and joined the Seagrams Company. She quickly rose to the ranks of senior flight attendant on the renowned Gulf Stream III and served as Mr. Edgar Bronfman's (Seagrams CEO & President of the World Jewish Congess) personal in-flight chef. Her travels took her to the most famous cities on the globe and serving as hostess for world leaders and celebrities. The demands of this position required her to know the finest culinary markets in places like Paris, London, Milan, Brussels and particulary Jerusalem. Eventually her knowledge and expertise were sought after by the famed Institute of Culinary Education in New York where she served on the teaching staff.
After her career in the airline industry, she continued in the restaurant business as an owner operator of the Southbury Deli and a Taco Bell franchise in NY State. She eventually fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to California and became an investment broker in the city of Sacramento before moving back to Connecticut in 2017.
Throughout her life, Sandy cherished every moment spent with loved ones and friends. She especially loved being with her siblings, nieces and nephews and being a grandaunt. Her adventurous spirit was contagious, inspiring those around her to embrace new experiences. She as well cherished the many life lifelonglong friends around the country who became a very special part of her life through the years.
