Ruddy John Colon, was born on June 24, 1960, in the Bronx, New York, and passed away on October 22, 2024, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Known for his joyful, free-spirited nature, Ruddy brought laughter wherever he went. He was the cherished son of Rudy Ramirez and Maria Rivera, and he built a legacy through his unique ability to connect with others, often using humor to bring smiles and unforgettable memories to all he met. Ruddy is the beloved husband of Carmen Colon. his beloved children: Heidie Colon-Rosa (Carlos Rosa), Joann Hernandez (Justin Hernandez), John “ ChicChi” Colon, Ruddy Colon (Alisha Colon), and Victoria Colon-Cruz (Luis CruzDelgado). 12 Grandchildren. and circle of extended family and friends who were blessed to have shared in his life.
Many knew Ruddy as the owner of Bani Used Appliance Store and Chi-Chi's Grocery Store, establishments that were more than just businesses; they were community cornerstones where Ruddy’s warmth and humor shone. On weekends, you could often find him enjoying the serenity of Seaside Park or planning his next trip to Florida, a place he loved to visit. Ruddy had a way with people—he was known for giving others unique nicknames that he never forgot and made others believe were truly their actual name. His humor was a gift; he could poke fun in a way that was lighthearted, genuine, and without malice, filling the moment with laughter.
Ruddy had a deep love for music and dancing, often bringing joy to family gatherings with his moves and a catchphrase that could make anyone smile: “ratings for me!” His love as a father knew no bounds; his children remember him as a wonderful dad whose impact on their lives was profound. Ruddy’s convictions were a guiding force in his life, and his presence, humor, and kindness will be forever treasured.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, beginning at 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 PM. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 60608.
