Rosa Emilia Uribe

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosa Emilia Uribe, who peacefully departed this life on October 22, 2024, in Stratford, Connecticut, at the age of 96. Born on December 15, 1927, in Fredonia Antioquia, Colombia, Rosa lived a life full of love, strength, and devotion.
Rosa is survived by her loving family, including her daughters: Maria Oquendo (Gildardo Oquendo), Gladys Uribe (Carlos Hernandez), Luz Manson (Lawrence Manson); and her son Gabriel Uribe (Alicia Uribe). She was a cherished grandmother to Michael Montañez, Eric Oquendo, Jessica Montañez, Haydees Valencia, Kelly Pannone, Karen Oquendo, Angela Uribe, Daniel Uribe, Juan Caraballo, and Sasha Oquendo, and a beloved great-grandmother to Alina, Destiny, Michael-Zane, Zara, Thalia , Rosaria, Paulo, Samara, Arianna, and Lunaira. Rosa was also blessed with 11 siblings and a large extended family.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Gabriel Angel Uribe; her son, Gabriel A. Uribe; her daughter, Luz Amparo Uribe; and her parents, Efrain Galeano and Mariana Rosa Arrubla.
In her younger years, Rosa moved to the United States from her hometown of Fredonia Antioquia, Colombia. She worked in manufacturing for a few years, but her true calling came after her retirement when she dedicated herself fully to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was always her first priority, and she showed unmatched strength in every challenge life presented her.
A devout Catholic, Rosa’s unwavering faith and daily prayers were the foundation of her family’s life. She was a woman with a deep spiritual connection, and her family found comfort in knowing that God listened to her special prayers.
Beyond her faith and family, Rosa was a talented seamstress and enjoyed music, dancing, cooking and celebrating life. Her vibrant spirit and boundless energy made her the life of any party, and even in her later years, she maintained her fierce independence.
Rosa will be remembered for her devotion, her strength, and her incredible love for her family. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2024, AT 11:30 A.M. AT ST. MARY'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 25 SHERMAN AVE., BRIDGEPORT, CT. PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER AT ST. MICHAEL'S CEMETERY, STRATFORD, CT.
