Remijio Medina Alvarez, affectionately known as " Raymond El Mecanico," passed away on October 12, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on March 3, 1933, in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Remijio's life was defined by his passion for mechanics and his unwavering dedication to his family and community.
An accomplished mechanic, Remijio garnered respect and admiration for his skills, becoming a well-known figure for his expertise in working on cars. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to his faith, as he was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Bridgeport and a devout Catholic who lived his life in service to his beliefs.
Remijio is survived by his sons, Israel Alvarez Ayala and Robert Ayala. He was a proud grandfather to Veronica Alvarez Ortiz as well as ten other grandchildren, and will be fondly remembered by his 24 great-grandchildren. The legacy he leaves behind is one rich in love and cherished memories.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ramona Ayala Alvarez, whose spirit will forever remain intertwined with Remijio's in the hearts of those who knew them.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing scheduled for October 25, 2024, from 7:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. Following this, a Mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, located at 25 Sherman St., Bridgeport, CT 06608, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at noon. Remijio will then be laid to rest at St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford, CT 06615, with the burial commencing at 12:15 PM.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Remijio Medina Alvarez not only for his remarkable skills as a mechanic but also for his enduring spirit and the love he shared with those around him. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
