Ramon Marrero

Ramón Marrero, age 86, of Stratford has entered into peaceful Rest with the Lord on January 25, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Monche as many graciously called him, will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Dolores; children, Nereyda (Miguel) Alicea, Ramón Jr. (Wanda) Marrero, Edwin (Cynthia) Marrero and Lourdes (Tramel) Marshall; 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. 5 brothers, Tomas Marrero, Juan Marrero, Mario Marrero, Antonio Marrero, Raul Marrero; 3 sisters, Julia Marrero, Ramona Marrero, Carmen Marrero and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

Ramón was born on June 10, 1935 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, the beloved son of the late Tomas Marrero and Angela Ortiz. He was a great man; a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who dedicated his life to working and raising his family.  He retired from Air-Vac Engineering Company as a machinist in June 2000.  He enjoyed retirement back in his homeland and was proud to have had the opportunity to build a home in Puerto Rico before returning to Connecticut in 2014.  Ramón enjoyed inventing practical tools, restoring his classic 1974 Volkswagen Buggy with his sons, watching his grandson play baseball, word search puzzles and one of his favorite pastimes, sitting in his chair and watching his favorite old westerns and sitcom shows.  Most of all, he loved being surrounded by his family and friends and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 4:30-7 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
Funeral Services have been scheduled for Thursday, February 3, 2022, beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
