Rafael Inoa

December 23, 1960 — November 21, 2024

Rafael Inoa, born on December 23, 1960, in La Vega, Dominican Republic, passed away on November 21, 2024, in Bridgeport, CT. He was a vibrant soul who embodied the spirit of caring and strength throughout his life, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing him.  Rafael's life was marked by his unwavering support for his family and a profound commitment to helping others. His powerful presence, both spiritually and physically, made him a pillar for those in need. He was deeply proud of his family, and his love resonated in the way he cared for them.

One of the proudest moments of Rafael's life was gaining his United States citizenship, allowing him to vote in his first United States election, which filled him with immense pride and joy. This accomplishment reflected his unwavering desire to contribute positively to society and be an active member of his community.

Rafael's interests were as vibrant as his personality. A champion domino player, he understood the beauty of strategy and camaraderie around the game. He also enjoyed boxing and baseball, reveling in the excitement of competition and the joy of shared experiences with friends and family.

Rafael's strength wasn’t just a metaphor—it was literal. He loved being active and found joy in the discipline and challenge of working out. Even as he got older, he could still lift heavy weights with ease, something that always amazed and inspired me. The gym was his happy place, where he pushed himself to be better, not just physically but mentally. It wasn’t just about strength; it was about resilience and commitment—qualities he brought into every aspect of his life. Seeing him conquer those weights was a constant reminder of his incredible determination and vitality.

But his strength wasn’t limited to the gym. Rafael was also a master landscaper, transforming ordinary spaces into breathtaking works of art. He had an eye for detail, a vision for beauty, and the hands to bring it all to life. His work wasn’t just about creating landscapes—it was about creating environments that brought joy and serenity to others. The same determination and care he showed in his work were mirrored in how he cared for his family and everyone around him.

As his son (Odalis), I had the honor of knowing him not just as a parent but as a mentor, a guide, and my greatest supporter. My father was the kind of person who didn’t just teach by not only words but by actions. His integrity, kindness, and quiet strength were the foundation of our family and the blueprint for how I strive to live my life.

One of my favorite memories of my dad was “When I was a baby and he would toss me up in the air while he laid down after a long day of work. I would scream Papi, Papi, Papi again, again! Until he got tired and we watched baseball or watched cheetahs run on the Discovery channel.” Or “The times we sat down to eat at a restaurant and we talked about life, our issues and joys. We would always give each other advice”

He had a way of making ordinary moments extraordinary, always reminding me of the importance of family, hard work, and laughter. Even in his final days, my father’s courage and love for those around him shined brightly. He taught me how to face life’s challenges with grace and to find joy in the simplest moments. Though he’s no longer here, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the love he poured into our family. “I love you so much Papi” - Your son Odalis

His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, especially his beloved family. He is survived by his dear son, Odalis Inoa; his daughter, Zoe L. Inoa Diaz; and his stepson, Rafael Jose Llera. He is also remembered with love by his siblings: Felicia Inoa Castillo, Ramon Inoa Castillo, Damaris Inoa Castillo, Braulio Jimenez Castillo, Amalfi Jimenez Castillo, Rosa Jimenez Castillo, and Lucrecio Jimenez Castillo.

Though he has been laid to rest, Rafael's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones. He has been predeceased by his father, Diego Inoa, and his mother, Magdalena Castillo, who surely welcomed him with open arms.

Rafael's visitation will take place on December 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.

As we remember Rafael Inoa, let us cherish the moments we shared with him, the laughter, the lessons, and the love he spread so generously. He may have departed this world, but his generous spirit and warm heart will forever remain a guiding light for his family and friends.
