Pedro Gonzalez

October 14, 1940 — July 21, 2024

On July 21, 2024, Pedro Juan Gonzalez, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, was reunited with his beloved wife Ana Celia Gonzalez in God's heavenly kingdom.  Born on October 14, 1940, in the mountains of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Pedro's journey through life was one of dedication, love, and unwavering faith.

At the tender age of 16, Pedro moved to Connecticut, where he would build a life rich in love and hard work. A skilled Tool and Die Maker, Pedro began his career at Avco Lycoming, which later became Allied Signal Aerospace in Stratford, CT. His exceptional craftsmanship and leadership qualities saw him rise to the position of Lead Man on all projects. Beyond his professional achievements, Pedro's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly. He was the proud owner of G & R Appliances, a second-hand appliance store in Bridgeport, and a successful real estate investor.

Pedro's life was deeply rooted in his faith. A devout Catholic who worshipped at Nuestra Señora de la Providencia, St. Anthony's and St. Peter's in Bridgeport, CT.  He lived his life by the principles of kindness, compassion, and community. His daily routine included reading the Connecticut Post, mastering crossword puzzles and peaceful walks at Saint Mary's By The Sea and praying the rosary.  He also enjoyed playing bingo and trying his luck at the casinos.

Pedro's greatest pride and joy was his family. He shared over 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, the late Ana Celia Gonzalez.  He leaves behind a legacy of love in his daughters, Ana C. Irizarry, Nilda Gonzalez, Milagros Gonzalez, Iris Nieves, Dory Wiley (Mike), Nancy Valle, Janet Staybrook (Dave), Mirtha Gonzalez, Ivet Ortiz (Ed), Enit Colon (Jorge), and his son, Peter Gonzalez (Carolyn). Pedro's memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Roberto, Samuel, and Ida Luz, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Pedro was preceded in death by his loving parents, Margarita Medina and Juan P. Gonzalez.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT.
