Nydia Morales Cardona also known as Big Mama age 63, currently of Ansonia, CT, passed away on February 1, 2024, at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. Many experienced her joyful, energetic spirit and the love she extended to all those who came her way. Nydia loved creating a welcoming environment in her home, where family and friends gathered and today appreciate the precious moments together that they shared.
Born on October 13, 1960, in Bridgeport, Nydia was the daughter to Tomasita Morales and the late Esteban Morales. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family, creating memories with her siblings Yvette Morales, Alicia Rosa, Richard Morales, Adelaida Mobilio, Steven Morales, Elizabeth Morales, Aquitania Romero, and predeceased sister’s Lucy and Janet Morales. Their bond was unbreakable, providing each other with unwavering support throughout their lives. Nydia was a woman who found joy in embracing others and cherishing every moment. She had a keen eye for great bargains and adored exploring estate sales, always looking for hidden treasures. Her enthusiasm for softball was evident as she spent many years playing at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, where her talent on the field added to the camaraderie she shared with her teammates in various softball leagues.
Nydia's loving spirit spread beyond her immediate family to touch the lives of others. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Juan Ramon Cardona; her children, Nydia Cardona, Abigail Morales White ( Husband Terrell White), Maria Cardona, Raymond Cardona (Fiancé Kristina Sobol), Leticia Morales, Tomasita Morales, Christina Cardona; and grandchildren, Brianna, Kayson, Kristopher, Micheal, Majesty, Emerie, Juan, Makayla, London, Roberto, Christopher, Xa’rayia, Chloe, Armani, Da’nayia, E’ziya, Giovanni, Kii and great granddaughters Heaven and Harli, other relatives, and friends who will sorely miss her.
A viewing will be held for Nydia on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
During this time, family and friends will have the opportunity to gather together, share stories, and find solace in one another's presence.
Though Nydia is no longer physically with us, her vibrant personality and the love she exemplified will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her legacy of joy and embracing others will never be forgotten.
