Noemi Matos

January 4, 1944 — January 18, 2025

Noemi Matos, born Cruz DeLeon on January 4, 1944, in the Dominican Republic, radiated warmth and kindness throughout her life. She gracefully transitioned to the celestial plane on January 18, 2025, at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, Connecticut. Known for her friendly demeanor, Noemi wasn't just a cherished family member but also a steadfast friend whose loyalty and hard work touched the lives of many.

For over 25 years, Noemi dedicated her career to housekeeping in healthcare settings, including more than two decades at Bridgeport Hospital, where her diligent efforts and commitment were formally recognized. Her adventurous spirit led her on a journey from the vibrant streets of the Dominican Republic to the bustling life of New York, spending seven years in the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska before finally settling in Connecticut.

Beyond her professional achievements, Noemi's proudest accomplishments were centered around her family. She poured love into every meal as an extraordinary cook, crafting each dish with care, ensuring that her loved ones were nourished both physically and emotionally. Her home was a haven, where laughter and joy were accompanied by the sweet sounds of music, particularly the enchanting notes of Jose Jose, and where the rhythms of salsa, merengue, bachata, and boleros.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Rafael Matos, along with her cherished children: Lorena Almonte, Rafael Matos II, and Bryan Matos. Her heart swelled with pride as she nurtured her family, and she was especially fond of her grandson, Elijah Medina, who brought immense joy into her life.

Noemi's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her, including the memory of her dearly departed sister, Milagros Robles, and her late parents, Jose Cruz and Adriana DeLeon. She is joined in spirit by her beloved dog, Baby, who was undoubtedly waiting to greet her at that heavenly rainbow bridge.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life with a viewing on January 24, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. As we gather to reminisce about her loving service and the legacy she leaves behind, we take comfort in knowing that Noemi Matos will forever be a guiding light in our lives, reminding us to work hard, love deeply, and embrace every moment with a joyful heart.
