Nicasia (Nicky) Álvarez Rosario was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico, on December 14, 1933. She was raised in Puerto Rico and lived most of her lifetime in her beloved Island, where she raised her two daughters. Early on she learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to support herself and her family. She led by example, living her life as a caring, determined, and fiercely independent woman, always ahead of her times. Nicky always inspired many with her positive, cheerful outlook on life.
In 2009 she moved to Bridgeport, CT to be closer to her first granddaughter. She passed away, at the age of 86, on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the Bridgeport Hospital.
Her Family will dearly remember her genius storytelling, her effortless cooking abilities, and her contagious sense of humor – but we will all miss her loving devotion as a Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother the most.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
Our Family wants to thank the healthcare professionals who provided invaluable care to Nicky during her final days.
May She rest in Peace, Joy and Glory."
