Nelida Sanchez

Nelida Sanchez, age 56, went to be with her creator on April 25th, 2020 at the Bridgeport Hospital. She was born on June 6th, 1963 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to Cruz Aquino and Lydia Yambo. She had resided in Bridgeport Connecticut for over 30 years. Nelida obtained a degree in nursing and cared for hospice care patients for over 23 years. She was a compassionate hardworking individual that brought peace and comfort to those that were near the end of their journey. After retiring she courageously began her fight to live on dialysis while waiting for a liver transplant which she received three years later. There is no doubt that she was a strong women, a women of faith and a fighter until the day she took her last breath on this earth. Nelida will be remembered for her unconditional love toward her family to include her four-legged baby Whitey, her sometimes very blatant honesty, her sense of humor and most important her faith in God. She is survived by her son Javier Sanchez, her granddaughter Leah Sanchez, her partner of several years Mario Quintanilla, her sisters Lydia Aquino, Zoriada Aquino, her brother Luis Aquino, her nieces Johanna Perez, Thalia Hernandez, Wilmary Hernandez and her nephews Joel Hernandez and Cristian Sotomayor among other family members. She will be missed greatly until we all reunite again. Nelida will be laid to rest on May 7th, 2020 in Mameyes Puerto Rico and services will take place from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Utuado Memorial Funeral Home.
