Mercedes Rivera

Mercedes Rivera, age 72, currently of East Haven, CT and beloved widow of the late Pedro T. Rivera has passed away into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT.  She is the daughter of the late Valentine DeJesus and the late Alejandrina Rivera.  She was born in Puerto Rico but had relocated to the U.S. Mainland many years ago. She was a retiree of the Social Security Administration where she was employed for many years.  She was very talented at Crocheting, and she truly enjoyed some great Karaoke moments which her family would agree was probably her favorite fun times.  A great cook she truly enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She will be sorely missed by so many who knew her.  

Mercedes is survived by her children Peter Rivera (Heather), Valentine Rivera (Cathy Lopez), Mercedes Perez and Mirasol Rivera. sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.  Her siblings David DeJesus, Valentin DeJesus (Helen), Carmen R. Stone (Alby), and Aida L. DeJesus. In addition to many other relatives and friends who will dearly cherish those moments which today have become treasures.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, October 3, 2022, from 6-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608.  Funeral Services have been scheduled for Tuesday, October 4, 2022, beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.at St. Charles Barromeo Church. Interment will follow after mass at the Lakeview Cemetery Association.
