Mercedes Corchado

Mercedes Corchado, 103, returned to the loving arms of the Lord in the comfort of her loving home on December 17, 2022.  She was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico to the late Martin and Francisca Corchado.  She moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut 54 years ago.

Mercedes was a very social person who enjoyed the company of others.  She enjoyed playing music and traveling.  She was the long reigning matriarch of her family who maintained complete order.  Her family was her main priority and she was actively involved in the rearing of her grandchildren.  Her culinary talents were unparalleled as she prepared her meals with special ingredients that came straight from her heart.  Many knew her as Mercedes, but her favorite people called her "Wela".

Mercedes leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children Martin Liciaga and Iris Liciaga, 8 grandchildren, 18  great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.   and a host of friends and relatives that will miss her dearly.  She was predeceased by 3 children.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2022, at 9:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, 391 Ogden Street, Bridgeport, CT.  Calling hours will be held shortly after mass at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.  Interment will take place after at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
