Marina Gonzalez, a beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 5, 1933, in Lares, Puerto Rico, she was the embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity throughout her life.
Marina was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also a guiding light for her family. Her warm and nurturing spirit was felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She cherished every moment spent with her family, finding joy in cooking for them and creating a welcoming atmosphere in her home. Marina had a special knack for whipping up delicious meals that brought everyone together, and her kitchen was often filled with laughter and the comforting scents of her culinary creations.
In addition to her passion for cooking, Marina loved to unwind by watching her favorite novelas, sharing the stories and emotions with those she loved. Her interests reflected her vibrant personality, which was deeply family-centered. Whether it was a simple gathering or a grand celebration, her presence brought warmth and unity to all occasions.
Marina will be remembered for her proudest accomplishment—being a grandmother. She poured her heart into nurturing her grandchildren, teaching them life lessons, and creating indelible memories that they will cherish forever. Her legacy lives on through them, as they carry forward her spirit of love and compassion.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes Ismael (Adolfo) Barbosa, Norma Iris Rodriguez, Jose Benjamin Barbosa, Jose Juan Barbosa, Beatriz Barbosa, Delia Esteves, Anibal Gonzalez, Luis Alfredo Gonzalez, Clarissa Sanchez, Rosaura Malave, Hector Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Elsa Perez, Tomasa Gonzalez, Edwin Gonzalez, and Maria Rodriguez, and Felix Gonzalez Jr. Their lives have been forever enriched by Marina's love, and they are grateful for the time shared with her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory many precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives that will miss her dearly.
Marina is greeted in eternity by her late husband, Felix Gonzalez, who she has missed dearly, and together they now watch over their family with unwavering love.
A visitation to honor the life of Marina Gonzalez will take place on November 20, 2024, at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, November 21 from 8:45 AM -9:45 AM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 695 Colorado Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow immediately after at Mt. Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her remarkable life, sharing stories and memories of a woman whose kindness and love knew no bounds.
Marina's legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to the beautiful life she lived and the joyous impact she had on her family and community.
