Maria A Torres

Maria A. Torres, a beloved figure in her community and to all who knew her, passed away on December 15, 2024, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 75. Born on May 31, 1949, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Maria carried the warmth of her homeland in her heart wherever she went, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Maria dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others. She worked as a daycare provider, where she became a cherished second grandmother to many children who lovingly referred to her as "Abuela." Her loving and humble nature made her a prominent figure in countless families, and she had the magical ability to make every child feel special and adored.

A devout Catholic, Maria's faith was a fundamental part of her identity. She was deeply family-oriented and found joy in creating loving memories during family gatherings. Maria enjoyed cooking and was known for her generosity—she opened her home to all visitors, ensuring that nobody left hungry. Her kitchen was always filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and the love that she so freely gave.

Maria leaves behind her loving family, her daughter Sandra Albino and her husband Alcides Albino, her son Danny Torres, and her daughter Carmen Rodriguez, her grandchildren Karina Albino, Alcides Albino  Jr., and Jose J. Albino, Jamar Brown, and Krystal Brown; and her great grandchildren Janelis Dash, Aleah Albino, Logan Pagan, and Alcides Jordan Albino; she is also survived by her siblings, Jaime, Rosalia, Luz Evelyn, Luz Eneida, and Carmen Emilia, who shared life’s joys and challenges alongside her.

She is preceded in death by her son, Jose Basco, and her parents, Emilio Basco and Crucita Ortiz. Maria's loving spirit will be missed but never forgotten, as she touched the lives of so many.

Visitation services will be held at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT, on December 19, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where her family and friends will gather to honor a life filled with love and devotion.

Though Maria has departed from this world, her legacy of kindness, nurturing, and unwavering faith will remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
