Maria S. Nieves

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria S. Nieves, who was born on September 24, 1984, and tragically left this world on October 11, 2024. Maria was a vibrant soul, always on the move, and never missed a chance to connect with those around her. Known to all as a social butterfly, her home was a hub of laughter and joy, where friends and family were always welcome.

Maria loved to express her individuality, always looking her best and embracing life with a free spirit. Her love for nature was evident in her appreciation for sunrises and sunsets, moments that brought her peace.

She is survived by her loving parents, Julio Nieves and Angela González; her beloved children, Amariah Martinez, Elijah Barbosa, and Gianna Barbosa; her cherished siblings, Yesenia Velez, Antonio Ortiz, Pedro J. Nieves, Julio Nieves, and Armando Gonzalez; and her precious grandchild, Xavion Sanon.

Maria’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of love, beauty, and unshakeable spirit. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.  May she rest in peace, forever embraced by the sunsets she adored.  

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 7-9 PM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.  then again on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 9:45 A.M -10:45 A.M at the Funeral Home. A mass in her honor will be celebrated at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1255 E Main Street at 11 AM. Interment will follow immediately after at Union Cemetery, 23 Temple Ct.
