Maria Luisa Martinez

Maria Luisa Martinez, age 78, of Bridgeport, has passed away into the peaceful rest of Christ on Saturday, November 20, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. She is the daughter of the late Santiago Figueroa and the late Santa Olmeda. Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she relocated to the United States mainland at a young age and has resided here since. Maria was a woman full of life, genuine and true to the core. She loved the Lord and for many years attended St. Mary's Parish. Before falling ill, she made sure she raised her family knowing God's loving grace. She was a spectacular cook and some of the dishes from her hands were unparalleled by none, especially her arroz con gandules. She loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed the simple things in life and for some time attended the Senior Center at Hall Neighborhood House where she spent some good, memorable moments with other seniors. She also looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren as family time was priceless to her.

Maria leaves to cherish her memory her children, Nancy Perez, Angelo Perez and his spouse Carmen, Jimmy Perez and his spouse Christine, and Frank Perez and his spouse Anita. Her grandchildren Ivan Negron Jr., Edgardo Negron, Mike Negron, Hilda Perez, Jenise Perez, Jimmy Perez Jr., Sarah Perez, Justin Perez, Erin Perez, Bianca Perez and Frank Anthony Perez; her 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Luis Figueroa, Gregorio Figueroa, Rosa Figueroa, Aleja Figueroa, Martha Figueroa, Migdalia Figueroa, Dominga Figueroa, and Sixta Figueroa; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom will dearly miss her presence from their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, but also her siblings, Carlos, Esmeralda, Efrain, Carmelo, Rogelio, Sixto, Tita and Costancio.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Mary's Parish, 25 Sherman Street, Bridgeport, CT on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 11:00 A.M.

Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT soon after the Mass.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorable Donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church, 275 Union Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, and used towards the blessing of those who attend the community kitchen and receive from the committed hearts of this parish program.
