Marta Martinez

Marta D. Martinez, age 90, passed into the peaceful presence of the lord on October 14th, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was the daughter of the late Juan Ortiz and Nila Perez. Born in Baire, Cuba, she came to the United States in 1959 where she met her beloved husband of 56 years, Rogelio Martinez

Marta was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who greatly adored her family and friends. With a heart of gold and a compassionate spirit, she poured her love into all of her relationships. She took care of her sick husband for over 18 years and never missed a chance to help others in need.

Marta enjoyed entertaining guests at her home with her outstanding cooking and charming stories of her past. Living her life to the fullest, she loved dancing and traveling with her husband. Her joyful personality and shining light will forever be missed.

Marta leaves behind to cherish her memories her two children, Marta Nieves and Eduardo Martinez, five grandchildren, Eddie and Ricardo Martinez, Daniel, Marcus, and Jessenia Nieves, three great grandchildren Elayna and Celine Martinez and Julia Nieves, as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends who loved her dearly.

Friends are invited to attend a viewing/visitation on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. -12:30 P.M.. Burial will follow immediately after at Mt. Grove Easton, 1 Harverster Road, Easton, CT.
