Maria Virgen Lopez

​Maria Virgen Oquendo Lopez, age 77 most recently of Deland, Florida, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her daughter's residence, surrounded by love. She was the beloved wife of the late Eduardo Lopez. Maria was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Manuel Oquendo and Lastenia Lopez prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area many years ago. She is the loving mother of Mecson Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Wilfredo Lopez, Edwin Lopez, Miriam Lopez, and Virgen Gonzalez. She is also survived by two brothers (Manuel Oquendo and John Oquendo), two sisters (Hilda Guzman and Josefina Lozada), 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several family members and friends that will sorely miss her. Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home,) 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. Her Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018 starting at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
