Maria P. Andriolas
Maria P. Andriolas, born on March 3, 1935, in Evia, Greece, peacefully passed away on January 18, 2025. The Lord reunited Nicholas and Maria on the 27th anniversary of his passing. She was 89. She immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s and settled in the Bridgeport area, where she raised her family and built a life centered on faith, love, and devotion.
Maria was a dedicated homemaker whose greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved mother of the late Tammy Andriolas, Helen (David) Knaus, Alexandra (Francisco Molina) Andriolas, Stacy Andriolas (Edward) Schwartz. She was a cherished grandmother to Christopher Carril, Anna Maria Miller, David Carril, Nicole Intelangelo, Ricardo Medina, Maria Schwartz (Lopez), and Edward Schwartz. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Charlotte, William, Theo, Penelope, Sadie and Leonidas. She also leaves behind her sister Irene Katarahias. She was predeceased by her parents Kosta Psarros and Eleni Vayia and brother John.
Maria was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where she found spiritual strength and cultivated her unwavering faith. She instilled this same devotion in her family, encouraging them to embrace faith as a source of peace and guidance.
Maria remained deeply connected to her Greek heritage and periodically returned to her homeland of Evia, a place where she found solace in its serene ambiance. Despite her low-key demeanor, Maria had a graceful spirit, a no-nonsense personality, and a heart full of joy for the success and happiness of those around her.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, the late Nicholas Andriolas, with whom she shared a life built on love and dedication. The Lord reunited Nicholas and Maria on the 27th anniversary of his passing.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to Antonia for the excellent care and compassion she gave to their mother.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 at Luz de Paz Funeral Home, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608.
Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maria’s memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, a community that meant so much to her.
Maria will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her commitment to family, and her graceful yet strong presence that touched the lives of all who knew her. May her memory be eternal.
