Margarita F. Valderrama, age, 82, passed away in Fairfield, CT at the Carolton Health and Rehabilitation Center, on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the age of 82. At the moment of her passing, she was surrounded by many of those she loved dearly. She was born on May 27, 1940, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. At the early age of 12, she relocated to the mainland of the United States and moved into the Bridgeport area where she has resided since.
Margarita will always be remembered as a joyful, spirited, and caring person who loved her family immensely. She had a passion for cooking delicious food but more because she loved serving it to anyone who came into her home; You couldn't leave without a bite to eat! She always wanted others to feel welcome and at ease and her caring, yet carefree nature allowed others to find that needed place when she was near. Margarita always put the needs of others above her own and her empathetic nature for others was unparalleled. She was a women of unshakeable faith, and her prayer time was important to her.
Margarita loved spending time with her family and traveling to see them; these were two of her favorite activities. Her personality was one that embraced everyone; she accepted all without judgment, no matter their walk of life. She had a genuine spirit and an amazing sense of humor that made others feel comfortable around her from the very start. She retired from Dresser Industries after 30 years and in addition to her kindness, part of her legacy is her strong work ethic, she led by example. She was also a brave and courageous breast cancer survivor and handled that journey with grace, humility, and humor.
Margarita is the beloved wife of the late Rene Polanco. She is survived by her children, Carmen "Mimi" Valderrama and her husband Roy Garcia currently of Katy, Texas & Eduardo "Tito" Valderrama and his wife Carmen N. Valderrama of Bridgeport, CT. Her grandchildren Jamila Vegas, Tiffany Valderrama, Jayden Valderama, Erin Harper Valderrama, Shayla Harper Valderrama, and Ratita Dennis Valderrama. Her great-grandchildren Bryce Durden, Brooklyn Edwards, Mia Harper, and Ariana Rosalene Falero. She is also survived by her loving sisters Isabel Burgos, Teresa Franco, Maria Ocasio and many more nieces and nephews, in addition to her extended family Rene Polanco Jr. and his wife Aida, and a host of friends and relatives that will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her mother Juana Ocasio, her father Antonio Flores, her beloved sisters Aida Hernandez and Juana Escalera, her beloved brothers Jose "Puchin" Ocasio, Victor Ocasio, Heriberto Flores, Pedro Martinez, Antonio Flores Jr., Miguel Marquez and her stepdaughter Bianca Carawlanis and her late husband Pete.
The family wishes to acknowledge her daughter-in-law Carmen N. Valderrama, her nieces Carmen Hernandez, her sisters Theresa, Chele and Isabel, the entire staff at Carolton Health Care Center especially Carmen Valle, Maria Terry Nieves, "Uncle Louie", Nancy Hernandez & Tammy Hernandez for all of the excellent care they provided.
Services for Margarita will be held at Funeraria Luz de Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
Viewing/Visitation will be held on, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Final Viewing/Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow St. George Church, at 11:00 A.M.
Burial service right after the Mass in the Park Cemetery Association located at 620 Lindley Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
Margarita F. Valderrama will always be remembered for her caring and welcoming spirit; she brought love and joy to those around her and will remain forever in our hearts.
