Manuel R Alicea

September 25, 1951 — January 11, 2025

In loving memory of Manny Alicea

Manuel passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025 at the age of 73 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Camuy, Puerto Rico to Mercedes and Manuel Alicea, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Manny came to Bridgeport, CT when he was only two years old. He graduated from Harding High School in 1970 and then joined the military. He served four years in the Airforce during the Vietnam War and lived in both Michigan and Thailand. After his service, he worked at Sikorsky and then became a fireman for the city of Bridgeport where he dedicated 20+ years of his life.

Manny was a husband of 52 years, the father of four and a grandfather of six. He was known for his love of Puerto Rico and was always the life of the party. Everyone knew Manny loved to dance to his salsa music and enjoyed listening to Doo-Wop and his oldies. Manny was also known for his green thumb and his meticulous care for outdoor spaces. No one will ever match his MacGyver skills, and his ability to fix whatever you needed. He always made himself available for anyone that needed anything. The house will be a little quieter without his humming and many will fondly remember him as we shimmy during a dance or play dominos.

Manny leaves behind his wife, Patty; his daughters, Jessy (ex-spouse, Luis) and Bianca (spouse, Benjamin) and son Machi (spouse, Jenna). His grandchildren Mateo, Alana, Skylar, Caleb, Elena and Jael will forever miss their Pops. Mambito will miss his lap and Luna will miss all the treats he used to give her. Manny was predeceased by his parents and three brothers (Luis A. Alicea, Kenny Alicea and Jose M. Alicea). His remaining siblings (Maria R. Rodriguez (Jose), Ana A. Gonzalez (Antonio), Olga I. Alicea, Esther Vega (Benjamin), Maritza Almodóvar (Sonia), William Alicea (Lucy) and Edwin Alicea (Elisa) and all of their children will treasure the wonderful memories they shared with him. In addition to family, his best friend Marcus, will forever cherish their childhood bond.

Manny was an incredibly generous person.  His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but we are all forever grateful for the time that we did have with him.

Services will be held at Funeraria Luz de Paz on Monday January 20th, from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Old Timer’s Organization in Bridgeport or plant a tree in his honor
