Madeline Amalbert

Madeline Amalbert (Mendez), 70, of Stratford, CT passed peacefully on November 8, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Pedro Mendez and Irma (Mendez) Cuevas. Madeline was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her larger-than-life personality and charm pulled you in for an embrace before she could even introduce herself. With her silver hoops and laugh that filled a room, she was a needle in the haystack shining brightly in the lives of many. She was a place of refuge for those who felt lost, and a symbol of courage for those around her. A proud Air Force veteran and graduate of Bassick High School class of 1970, her time here was well spent– and her legacy lives through us all.

 In addition to her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her brothers Louis Mendez and Anibal Mendez, as well as her sister Nancy Arguelles. Madeline is survived by her daughters Cenita Cruz, Danielle Cornish (Scott), Nina Amalbert; as well as sisters Elizabeth Williams (Andre), Irma Morton (William), Yvette Acevedo (Raul); brothers David Mendez (Lillian), and Hector Mendez; grandchildren Mateo Cruz, Brandon Cornish, Gabriella Cornish, Jacob Melendez and an innumerable host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 9:30 AM- 10:30 AM at Funeraria Luz de Paz 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. A military burial will be held with full honors at the Connecticut Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT immediately after.
