Luz Nereida Alicea Torres, age 75, of East Haven, CT passed away into the Presence of the Lord on October 11, 2021, in her home while surrounded by her loving family. She is the daughter of the late Bernabe Torres and Monserate Torres. She was born in Lares, Puerto Rico and for many years traveled back and forth to the island until her last trip where she stayed on the US mainland for approximately 30 years. She was the life of the party wherever she went, enjoying every moment she could with her family and friends. She loved the Lord with all her heart. According to her family, they always enjoyed her flawless cooking. She had a green thumb and her plants and flowers would always flourish. In addition to spending time in her home with her family, she was the first in line whenever someone talked about going on a road trip or shopping. Her joyful spirit and wonderful heart will forever be missed and another reason we look forward to the day we are all reunited.
In addition to her mother, Luz is survived by her son Francisco Alicea and his wife Sonia Espada, Daisy Alicea and her husband Will Roman and Ruben Velez; her grandchildren Frank Alicea Jr., Avery Alicea, Devon McCormick, Jazlynn Rodriguez, and Addelise Velez. Her siblings Roberta Torres, Elsa Gonzalez and her husband Robert Flynt, Esperanza Torres and Haydee Hernandez and her husband Heriberto; her godson Jason Crespo who she always called "Chencho" and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends who will sorely miss her.
She was preceded in death by her sisters the late Ines Torres and Aramita Torres and her brothers the late Alfredo Torres and Eugenio Torres.
