Lucila Nieves

Lucila Nieves, age 94 of Waterbury, passed into the glorious presence of the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. She was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Isidro and Cerefina Nieves prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area many years ago. Lucila enjoyed playing dominoes, doing crafts, and visiting the casino to play slots. During her time in Bridgeport, she loved going to the S.A.D.A. senior center, where she would be able to do her crafts and bring them home to her family. She truly got so much joy out of creating, especially when she got to use canvas. Lucila is the loving mother of Maria Teresa Rivera, Angel Luis Rivera, Milly Nieves, and Jose Rodriguez; the caring grandmother of 13 grandchildren spread throughout Puerto Rico, Florida and Connecticut; the great-grandmother of 18 and the great-great-grandmother of one. She is also survived by her sister, Ana Nieves of California. Lucila is predeceased by her sons, Baltazar Rivera and Alvin Rivera; and her siblings Jorge Nieves, Angel Nieves and Carmen Nieves. Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Friday, June 26, 2020 from 10 to 1 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. Her interment will follow at Park Cemetery 620 Lindley St. Bridgeport, CT 06606.
