Linda Powers Maloney

October 8, 1947 – February 1, 2025

Linda Powers Maloney was a woman of strength, independence, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she spent most of her life in the community she called home. For a time, she ventured to Vermont, a place she cherished deeply for its connection to her family roots.  As well as its breathtaking landscapes, and the simple beauty of its seasons. Though she returned to Bridgeport, Vermont always held a special place in her heart.

Linda’s personality was magnetic—she had a way of making anyone feel comfortable, no matter their background. She was charismatic and outspoken, never one to tolerate foolishness, yet she radiated pride when celebrating the achievements of those she held near her heart. Small in stature but mighty in spirit, she was fiercely protective of her family and those she took under her wing. If ever someone needed an advocate, "Momma Bear" was ready to stand up for what was right.

A proud graduate of Stratford High School, Linda’s resilience was evident in the life she lived. She single-handedly raised her children, at times working two jobs to ensure they had everything they needed. Determined and assertive, she never hesitated to speak her mind but always made room to listen, even when she didn’t fully agree.

Children were naturally drawn to her, and she embraced them all—her own, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and even those not related by blood but who lovingly called her "Grandma Linda." Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she believed in lifting others up and inspiring them to reach new heights.

She is survived by her children, Edwin E. (Donna) Perez and Victoria Perez (Ceci Salazar).  Her extended family of Ada Perez, Victor Perez, and Migdalia Perez were important to her, as she embraced them with affection and love from day one. Her family circle extended far and wide. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Leanne Grace, Mary Frances (Michael) Nunes, Megan Perez, Justin L. Perez (Katie), and Brandon E. Perez (Maryanne), Oscar Calatayud, Carlos Calatayud and Nicolas Calatayud along with her adored great-grandchildren, Autumn Nunes, Zoe Nunes, Aiden Grace, Austin Grace, and Owen Perez.  Linda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, the late William Easton Powers, and Dona Powers, and her siblings, Robert Powers and Mary Powers.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608, where memories will be shared and her life will be honored. Her final wishes will be carried out privately, in accordance with her wishes.

Linda's presence, wisdom, humor and fierce love will be missed but never forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion—one that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
