Kevan Isaac Bonilla, 20, tragically returned to the loving arms of the Lord on July 10, 2021, in New Haven, CT. He was born to Oscar Bonilla and Ana Torres in Yonkers, New York. He relocated with his family to the Bridgeport area where has resided since. Kevan was a prized boxer who trained intensely at Ortiz Boxing in Bridgeport, CT, a place where the young can tap into their true potential. It was also the catalyst that allowed him to be one of those to watch in the sport he focused his energy on.
He was meticulous about his appearance and his "flashy" attire matched his "millionaire mindset". He was teased by some by calling him "pretty boy" whose outfits everyone knew had to be on point at all times, and they were! He was an outgoing person who was always joking and singing, and with such a contagious personality, many learned to love him and know him.
For some time, he attended the Iglesia Cristiana Renacer where he came to know the Lord and established his relationship with Him. His passing brings so much sorrow, and leaves so many feeling a void and questioning why did this happen to someone so young? The ‘why’ does not necessarily provide the answers; the answers, many times, bring further turmoil and confusion. Yet for those who trust the Lord, they trust and believe in their hearts His promises.
Romans 8:28-tells us "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to HIS purpose." Ultimately trusting HIM is all we have. One thing we know is that God's grace and mercy embraced Kevan into His eternal presence, and His promises guarantee the reunion with those that have passed before us. Until then may he rest in peace and may he bask in the presence of the almighty until we meet again.
In addition to his parents, Kevan leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving brother Oscar Bonilla Jr., his adoring grandmother, Sergia Maria Torres, and a host of relatives and friends.
