Juan S. Gonzalez

Juan S. Gonzalez, age 82, currently of Meriden, CT has passed away to the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022, in Hartford Hospital.  Juan was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico.  Many years ago Juan relocated to the United States Mainland and resided in the Bridgeport area until most recently when he relocated to Meriden.  Juan is the son of the late Carmelo Gonzalez and the late Maria L. Lopez.   He is the husband of the late Maria T. Gonzalez who preceded him in death in 2006.  Juan was a very active man throughout his life. Even in the most recent years he enjoyed so much helping others in their homes, cleaning, moving, or whatever they needed. Juan Loved animals regardless of which kind and always enjoyed caring for them.  One of his passions was gardening and taking care of the landscaping around his home, as being outdoors was something he enjoyed the most.  He had been employed at the Decola Landscaping for many years before retiring.  During his leisure time, Juan enjoyed going out with his friends,  horse racing, the casinos or simply playing a good game of dominos. He will be sorely missed by all.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Nelida Handy (Gerald), John Gonzalez (Andrew Welle), Veronica Gilliam (Phillip), Yanitza Perez (Gamaliel), Leonel Gonzalez, and Juan Gabriel Gonzalez (Vianca). His grandchildren, Chanel Merced, Thomas (TJ) Gilliam, Genesis Gilliam, Mason Gonzalez, Gabriella N. Gonzalez, Eli Perez, and Aaden Gonzalez. One great-grandchild Alex Szogedi, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, June 10, 2022, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral  Home), 426 E. Rest In Peace Ping…
My childhood memories of you are ingrained in me forever. You were always so kind to us Lopez kids, but more than that you are our forever Hero for saving my brother Ramon's life.

I'll never forget that night, I must have been 6 years old, we were having a family celebration, and Ramon got a soda cap stuck in his throat. Everyone tired to get it out, but it wasn't working. It was not a pretty scene. As the family circled around Ramon and started praying, you ran into the circle, picked up Ramon with one hand, like a Superhero, desperately trying to get it out, so much that I thought my brother's bone were going crack into pieces. It finally came out, we were all relieved. You saved my brother's life. You are and will always be our forever Hero….

My condolences to the entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
