Jose Alberto Rivera Aviles

Jose Alberto Rivera Aviles, age 66, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2024. Born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, Jose carried the warmth and spirit of his homeland throughout his life, spreading joy and love to everyone he encountered.

A man of many passions, Jose was an avid baseball enthusiast who played with the Goya and Bustelo teams with Caribe for years, creating memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime. His love for cars was equally profound; as a self-taught mechanic, he took great pride in restoring and repairing vehicles, pouring his heart into every project. Music and dance were also dear to him, especially Salsa, which filled his home with rhythm and joy.

Jose was the beloved son of Leonidise Aviles, who survives him. He is also survived by his cherished children: Liz Troche and her husband Gilbert, Xiomara Cuenca and her husband Carlos, Damisela Rivera, and Jonathan Gonzalez and his wife Maria. Jose will be deeply missed by his siblings: Jose DelMoral and his wife Wanda, Carmelo DelMoral and his wife Luz, Wilfredo Rivera, and Juan Rivera. 10 Grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews who love him dearly.  

He was preceded in death by his father the late Jose Rivera Fletcha, his younger brother the late David Rivera and his son the late Jose Alberto Rivera, Jr.

Jose was a man who embraced life fully, with a social and outgoing nature that drew people to him. He had a natural gift for making others feel welcome,  another reason he became appreciated by many.

 A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, where all friends are invited to pay their respects and share wonderful memories about Jose.

The final disposition will be held privately at the family’s convenience.
