Jose L. Gonzalez

Jose L. Gonzalez, 55, of New Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital, after complications of a heart transplant. Born on January 31, 1970, in Añasco, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of the late Bienvenido Gonzalez and the late Florentina Garcia.

Jose was a dedicated husband to Carmen M. Vazquez and a proud father to Merallys Gonzalez, Olga Gonzalez, Jacqueline Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, and step kids Mayra Santiago, Joanna Santiago, Walter Tixi, and Norma Tixi. He was a cherished grandfather to 19 grandchildren who brought him great joy and pride.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Jose was a true jack of all trades—there was little he couldn’t do with his hands. However, his greatest joy was found in the kitchen. Cooking was not just a passion but a way he showed love to those around him. Nothing made him happier than sharing a meal—and a strong cup of coffee—with family and friends. Jose will be remembered for his selflessness, his love for helping others, and his gentle, giving spirit.

He is survived by his loving siblings, Bienvenido Gonzalez, Jacqueline Gonzalez, and Juan C. Gonzalez, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Iglesia Pentecostal Manantial de Vida, 855 Grand Avenue, New Haven, CT from 6:00 PM until the end of service.

 Funeral services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Boulevard in New Haven, Connecticut.
