Jorge E. Pezo, age 56, beloved husband of Bethsaida Pezo, of Shelton, has passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on June 15, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT.
Jorge immigrated from Peru to the United States when he was just 17 years old. He came in pursuit of better opportunities for his future. With the help of the priests and community in Bridgeport he called Blessed Sacrament Church his home for many years. He used his gift of music to further the faith of those who attended the services every Sunday by leading the choir and playing guitar.
He would attend and graduate from Sacred Heart University as he found his American Dream through his love of education. He started with his degree in computer science and used it to help students at Luis Muñoz Marin School in the computer lab. But it was his love of math and computers that became his calling. He was an amazing Math Teacher who loved to teach his students and treated them as his own. His love of soccer allowed him to coach and play in community leagues with students and other teachers throughout the years as well.
He later became a Math Specialist and went back to school to get his certification to become an Administrator for the Bridgeport Board of Education before retiring after 30+ years. He was also part of the family of Geraldine Johnson Elementary School, Curiale and Harding High School where he dedicated his years to benefit our Bridgeport Kids. Jorge leaves to cherish his memory his parents Francisco Pezo and Julia Pezo of Waterbury, CT; his son Jorge Pezo-Candelario; his daughters Erikamari Murphy and Karla Baldwin; his children from marriage Adam Peck, Cristean Peck and Eric Peck; his siblings Francisco Pezo, Maria Pezo, Martha Marin, Julia Mendoza, Jose Pezo and Florinda Monge; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will dearly miss him; Friends are invited to attend a Mass which will be held on June 20, 2018 from 12:15 P.M. - 1: 15 P.M. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 275 Union Avenue, Bridgeport, CT; Final disposition will be held privately at the convenience of the Family. In Lieu of Flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission in his memory. The purpose of the organization represents his life’s work in helping those in need in the Bridgeport community that he so loved. Donations can be made online at https://bridgeportrescuemission.org/donate/; Meanwhile an online Register Book has been established as a place where you may share your thoughts, memories, prayers, pictures and so much more but is found EXCLUSIVELY at www.luzdepaz.com.
