Jorge Calderon, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, passed peacefully on November 13, 2024, in Shelton, Connecticut, at the age of 83. Born on December 11, 1940, in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, Jorge's journey through life was marked by wisdom, humility, and strength. He was a man who embraced moments with unwavering resilience and an observant nature that reflected his deep understanding of the world around him.
For many years, Jorge worked as a machinist at Handy Harmon in Bridgeport, where his dedication and skill were recognized by his peers. He later lent his talents to Angelica's Linens in Milford, always showing a commitment to his work that inspired those around him.
Jorge was not only a steadfast worker but also an accomplished musician, whose love for music was evident in everything he did. His talents as a lead singer of a local band "Los Conquistadores" brought joy to many, and those fortunate enough to hear him play the guitar or sing will cherish those memories forever. He enjoyed playing Dominos and won a few trophies playing them professionally in Social clubs. He was also a loyal New York Mets fan, displaying enthusiasm that endeared him to fellow baseball lovers.
Among the memories shared by his loved ones, they fondly recall tickling him, as Jorge was known to be extremely ticklish—a simple yet cherished moment that revealed the playful spirit he possessed, even into his later years.
Jorge is survived by his devoted daughter Leyda Calderon, his daughter and son-in-law Lillian and Juan Fontañez, and his beloved son George Calderon. He was a grandparent, leaving behind seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces who filled his life with immeasurable joy. He also shared a special bond with his siblings: Angel, Isabel, and Matilde, who will miss him dearly. He leaves behind a host of friends and relatives that will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father Tomas Calderon, his mother Carlotta Lanzot and his siblings Jeremiah, Vicente, and Confessora, who have welcomed him with open arms.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Cornerstone Christian Center, located at 349 Wheelers Farm Rd, Milford, CT. Following this, Jorge will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave, Bridgeport, CT, starting at 12:00 PM.
Jorge Calderon will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those he loved. His legacy of kindness, strength, and artistic expression will continue to resonate with everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
