Jony Alberto Gomez, also known as John Albert Jones or "Maestro John Kwondo," age 57 of Bridgeport, Connecticut, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He is the beloved spouse of Alexandra Gomez. Jony was born in the Dominican Republic, son of Lidia Suazo and the late Hermenegildo Antonio Gomez. Jony was able to live his true passion of practicing and teaching Tae-Kwon-Do throughout the Dominican Republic, New York, and Connecticut. He truly enjoyed exercising, walking on the beach, and cooking. Jony was a jokester, always striving to see people’s smiles and make them laugh. He was known as a problem solver and was sought out to advise his friends, students, and family. Jony was a dependable and devoted friend, who was available for those he loved, rain or shine - his generosity and loving nature will be forever remembered. More than anything, Mr. Gomez loved his wife and family dearly. Along with his wife and mother, Jony is survived by his sons: John Gomez, Jr., John Albert Gomez, and John Alex Gomez, and his granddaughter, Karmella Jolie Gomez. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the support and generosity of the Frias Family and the taekwondo students, who have been nothing less than exemplary and wonderful examples of humanity at its best. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. A funeral service will take place at the Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 PM followed by an interment in the Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
