In loving memory of
Jason Calderon
Jay passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2024 at the age of 51. Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 27, 1973 to Myriam and Jose “Yogi” Calderon, Jay loved hard and unapologetically.
After graduating from Bullard Havens in 1991 with a specialization in masonry, Jay went on to work as a correctional officer at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown, CT for 21 years. After retiring from corrections, he worked at Hall Neighborhood House, where he was lovingly referred to by children and staff as “Mr. Jason”.
Jay was a father of two and a grandfather of five who brought laughter and light into every room he entered. He was known for being dependable and showing up for those he loved. Those who knew Jay knew he loved his car, his sneaker collection, his jewelry, and most of all his family. He loved watching the Giants and doing anything with his grandchildren. His world was devoted to those around him with his support, kind words and actions.
He was predeceased by his father, Yogi, and is survived by his mother Maggie, his twin daughters Sarina DiCola (with husband Rob) and Deanna Ramos (with husband Matt), Amaya and his grandchildren Robbie Jr., Nico, Olivia, Noah and Sophia. He was also a special Tio to Johani and Sienna. His local family, Patty, Auria, Nilsa, Oscar and Manny and closest cousins, Jessy, Cassy, Antonio, Machi and Louie and lifetime dear friend Berto — and way too many friends to list — will miss the long talks, outings, rides in his car and having fun with him.
Jason was so incredibly loved, and his passing leaves an unfillable void in all of our hearts. His presence will forever be remembered and his absence forever felt.
Services will be held at Luz de Paz on Wednesday October 30th, from 5pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Hall Neighborhood House, Bridgeport CT.
