In Loving Memory of

Jaime Martinez Ocasio

 November 12, 1944 – April 3, 2025

Jaime Martinez Ocasio, age 80, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on November 12, 1944, he was the beloved son of the late Primitivo Martinez and the late Petra Ocasio.

A man of deep roots and unwavering love for his family and culture, Jaime embraced life with generosity, strength, and joy. He had a deep passion for traditional Puerto Rican pastimes—cockfighting, fishing, pig roasts, and gardening. His talent for roasting pigs became a cherished tradition among family and friends, and his backyard garden overflowed with homegrown fruits and vegetables, a symbol of his connection to the land and his heritage.

Jaime was a skilled carpenter whose hands built more than structures—they built comfort, beauty, and security for those he loved. He never hesitated to support his children in all their endeavors, no matter the hour or personal sacrifice. He was the kind of father whose quiet strength and steady presence always reminded his family that they were cared for, protected, and unconditionally loved.

He practiced his faith for many years at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where his faith and commitment to those in attendance was evident in all he did.

Though never officially married, Jaime shared a devoted bond with his companion, Elba Negron. A woman whose commitment and heart for him was evident until his last breath. To him, she was more than a partner—she was his heart, his peace, and his home.

Jaime also maintained a respectful and enduring friendship with his former wife, Freswinda Viruet, with whom he shared a meaningful chapter of life and the blessing of a beautiful family.

Jaime also leaves his legacy of love and commitment through his loving children: Maribel Martinez (Cesar), Victor M. Viruet (Hilda), Anton J. Santiago (Jackie), Leomar Martinez (Irca), Michel Martinez (Victor), Winda Olivia (Daniel), and Sigrid Martinez (George); his cherished siblings: Gloria, Tite, Amina, Emerita, Luz, and Carmen Martinez; His trusted Ride or die friend Roberto Quiles and his coworker he considered a trusted true friend, Martin A.DelaCruz; 15 adored grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who will miss his warmth, his laughter, and his larger-than-life presence.
