Ismael "Maelo" Sanchez

Ismael Sanchez, age 70, of Bridgeport has passed away into the presence of the Lord on April 16, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Ismael who many graciously knew as "Maelo" was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, but many years ago he relocated to the Bridgeport area.  He is the son of the late Brigido Sanchez and the late Leonor Falcon. Although he relocated to Bridgeport his love for the countryside (El Campo) never ceased to make him feel at home.  He enjoyed having his rose bushes and more in front of the home.  His commitment to his passion of gardening was evident as he grew abundant fruits and Vegetables, reaping the fruits of his labor. Over 26 years ago he met his beloved wife, Hilda Lopez of Bridgeport. He loved his family and everyone who knew him, knew how much of a proud Dad he was. His work ethic and commitment to a job correctly done, is one of the many reasons many came to know him as he repaired their homes, improved many and helped others with theirs. A Heart of Gold without a doubt. A Family focused man, and knowing all is done, you knew where to find him and that would be watching a great show, enjoying a great episode or series on TV.

In addition to his Wife, Maelo is survived by his children Irelssie, Ismael Jr., Kelvin, Maelis and Hector. His nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His siblings Juan, Enrique, Carmen and Flora and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will sorely miss him.  He was preceded in death by his son the late Omal Velez and his siblings the late Brigido Sanchez, Jr., the late Ramonita Sanchez and the late Miguel Angel Sanchez.  

Friends are invited to attend calling hours which are to be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 5:30-8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for Monday, April 24, 2023, beginning at 10:00 A.M.  Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
