Ismael M. Nieves was born on August 30, 1946, in Camuy, Puerto Rico, to Juana Montijo Hernandez and Felipe Nieves Cruz. On July 4, 1963, he relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he would build his life and legacy for the years that followed.
Ismael married the love of his life, Noelia Jimenez, on June 6, 1981. Their union was blessed with three children—Ismael, Christina, and Gabriel—and through them, they were further blessed with eight grandchildren—Shanelle, Michael, Rodney, Nicole, Alyssa, Vincent, Brianna, and Gianna—and four great-grandchildren—Noah, Lorenzo, Karmelo, and Kameron. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them faith, love, and values that will last for generations.
Ismael dedicated 35 years of his life to working at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut, retiring with honor and pride. His work ethic and dedication were matched only by his devotion to his family and faith.
Ismael’s greatest accomplishment was raising his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to walk in the fear of the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived every day as a testament to his trust in God. He cherished simple moments—camping trips, playing dominos, and going on walks with his beloved wife. These memories will remain with his family forever.
Ismael was a family man through and through, loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Noelia; three devoted children, Ismael (Diana), Christina, and Gabriel (Jennifer); eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Blanca Rios, Eliza Lopez, Luis Nieves, Abraham Nieves, and Migdalia Nieves. Ismael was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carmelo Nieves, and his sister Neftalina Feliciano, who have now welcomed him home in Heaven.
Ismael battled his illness with courage, but he did not succumb to cancer—he surrendered to God’s loving call, trusting in His promise. As Revelation 21:4 declares, “There will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain in heaven.” His faith brought him peace as he entered the Lord’s presence, free from suffering and pain.
Although we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing that Ismael is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones and in the presence of his Lord. His memory will live on through the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as through the stories, love, and faith that he left behind.
Ismael left this earth not as a man defeated by illness but as a man victorious in Christ, having lived a full, meaningful life with faith as his guiding light. His life leaves a legacy of love, hope, and the assurance that one day, we will see him again.
To God be the glory, now and forever.
Rest peacefully, Ismael. Your memory will forever live in our hearts.
