Heriberto Cruz, 80, passed away peacefully in his home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 4, 2024. Born on March 16, 1944, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Heriberto lived a life marked by strength, discipline, and devotion to his family and country.

A man of strong character and set in his ways, Heriberto was known for his deep love and care, especially for his grandchildren, with whom he shared many special moments. His cooking skills were a cherished part of family gatherings, where he would host memorable cookouts, filling the air with the aroma of his culinary talents. He was also a meticulous and organized person, ensuring everything was in its place.

Heriberto proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a time that deeply shaped his life. In his younger years, he was always keen on staying fit and looking his best. Later in life, he found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, a pastime that brought him peace.

Heriberto is survived by his beloved children: his son, Heriberto Cruz Jr.; his daughters, Madeline Velez and Nayda Morales; his siblings, Alejandrina Cruz and Filomeno Cruz; and many cherished grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, the late Pellin Llanos, the late Ramon L. Cruz, the late Pablo Cruz, the late Carmen Cruz, and the late Elena Cruz.

Heriberto’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family will remember him not only for his strong spirit but also for the warmth and joy he brought to their lives.

Viewing/visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 9:00 am - 11:30 am at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.   Followed by interment in the Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
