Hector Manuel Ramirez

September 27, 1932 — June 21, 2020

Private 1st Class Hector Manuel Ramirez - Lopez, 87, passed peacefully at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Haven, CT. on June 21st of 2020. A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly held a Korean service medal with a “Bronze Star”, A CIB - Combat Infantryman Badge, A United Nations service medal, as well as, a National Service Medal. His most significant duty assignment was with the 15th Infantry Regiment Delta Company. Hector was born on September 27th 1932 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Ramon Ramirez and Ana Maria Lopez. He was predeceased by his younger brothers Carlos Manuel Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, a younger sister Mirna Ramirez, as well as, his eldest son Hector Manuel Ramirez Jr. who passed away in 2002. Hector Ramirez Sr. served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1952 and was released by way of Honorable discharge. He became a resident of Bridgeport, CT in 1965 where he resided for the remainder of his life. He was a caring, trustworthy and honorable father, grandfather and friend to many and a devoted fisherman with many prize catches under his belt. He is survived by the mother of his children Tomasita Ramirez - Colon, 3 Children-Graciela Robinson - Ramirez, Carlos Manuel Ramirez, and Noemi Rodriguez - Ramirez, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. He will be dearly missed. His unique stern, kindhearted, classy and comical character was one of a kind and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many people he touched. He will receive a full Military Honors ceremony celebrating his life and years of service on July 10th, at the National Military Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
