On Thursday December 27, 2018, Harold Lewis Steeves, of Trumbull, CT went home to be with his Lord. Even though the last year of his life was a challenge, he knew the compassion and faithfulness of his Savior never failed. He rested confidently in the fact that he would one day rejoice in Heaven along side his loving wife Ruth who had gone before him. This gave him a hope and peace for the present and a constant love and gratefulness for his family, friends and faithful caregivers.
Harold was born May 23, 1929, the son of Harold William Steeves and Elsie Monnier Steeves of Fairfield, CT and predeceased by his brother David Steeves and beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth Ohlin Steeves. Harold worked as a young man at Remington Rand in Bridgeport, CT. He faithfully served our country as a Sergeant in the Korean War and upon his return, continued his employment with Remington Rand. During the mid 1970’s he founded Steeves Quality Business Machines. Along with an amazing work ethic and eye for good business, Steeves Quality Business Machines grew into a successful and thriving company employing his two sons and grandsons as well. Throughout his life, Harold served the Lord through his love for music dedicating much of his time to singing in the church choir at Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield, CT. He loved his family and sought to give them the very best. He enjoyed his leisure time by riding through the countryside on his motorcycle and traveling around the world with his beautiful wife.
He is survived by his three beloved children and spouses, Debra (Michael )Hawkins, David (Sharon) Steeves, and Rev. Douglas (Elizabeth) Steeves, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He will be missed, however we know that one day we will see him again as the 23rd Psalm promises. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
