Gustavo "Gus" Perez, age 57, gained his Angel Wings on August 2, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia. Gus was born July 28, 1964 to Carmen N Perez and the late Francisco Perez, Sr. Gus was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT prior to relocating to Bedford, VA three years ago to be with his children: Gustavo Perez, Jr., Rebecca Aileen Perez, James Robert Perez and Rene Albert Perez Gustavo and his granddaughter, Sophia Grace Perez. Gus was a sponsor of the Borinquen Softball League in the late 80s and 90s; he absolutely loved softball. He worked at Harvey Hubbell for over ten years and Merritt Canteen for 14 years before relocating. Gus was an ardent NY Yankees and New England Patriots fan. Gus is also survived by two siblings who are going to miss him greatly. His brother, Francisco Perez, Jr. (Gilberto and Joseph Perez) and his sister, Diana Perez (Emanuel and Kiara Martinez.) He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Julia Torres; aunts: Marta Velez, Lillian Velez, Ivette Anderson and Judy Perez; his uncles Manuel, Carlos, and Miguel Velez. Gus was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Alberto Torres and paternal grandmother Julia Rodriguez and many aunts and uncles. Gus will be greatly missed with that one and only smile by many family members and friends who loved him. Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. His interment will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
