Gamaliel Garcia Jr, born on July 28, 1985, known by those closest to him as "Gamito" was born on July 28, 1985, in Brooklyn, New York, crossed into eternity on January 2, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a cherished son, a devoted father, and a beloved brother, deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A dedicated plumber by trade, Gamito approached his craft with both skill and passion. His career was not merely a job but a reflection of his attentive and considerate nature. Even in the workplace, he formed bonds that transcended professional relationships; his baseball teammates often became like family to him. He was the embodiment of generosity and kindness, always ready to lend a hand especially when it came to his mother or share a comforting word to anyone in need.
Gamito was an individual who had a zest for life, deeply engaged with those around him. His personality radiated warmth; he was a true ladies’ man, a hopeless romantic, and someone who made everyone feel valued. Those who spent time with him could feel his genuine interest in their lives, and his ability to listen and connect was remarkable.
As a proud father to his beloved daughter Myah Garcia, he loved fiercely and instilled in her the same deep compassion he carried in his heart. His love was evident in the way he spoke of her, and they shared precious moments that would remain etched in memory forever. Equally, Gamito's bond with his parents, Gamaliel Garcia Sr. and Vera Gonzalez, was one of staunch support and affection.
In addition to his family, Gamito was blessed with siblings: Belinda, Mark, Nelson, Mayela, and Jacob, each of whom will carry forward the vivid memories of their time together. All those that were blessed to know Gamito as a friend, he would forge a brotherly or sisterly relationship with and transform into family. They all will fondly remember the laughter shared, the stories told, and the unwavering support that he offered throughout their lives.
Gamito had a rich tapestry of interests that encompassed his role as a cat dad to Lola, an avid basketball player, and a sports enthusiast with a special penchant for the New York Mets. Despite his true loyalty to the Mets, his love for his sister led him to support the New York Yankees as well. He was also an accomplished artist and writer, with a deep appreciation for music, worship, and praise, which revealed his creative spirit and passion for expression.
Gamito's time on this earth was not without struggles, and he faced his illness with unparalleled bravery and trust in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His positive outlook and determination were an inspiration to everyone who witnessed his journey. This tenacity was intertwined with the beautiful memories he created that will be cherished by all his loved ones.
In commemorating Gamito's life, we honor a devoted individual who lived fully, loved deeply, and touched the lives of many. He leaves behind the mark of a gentle spirit and the enduring legacy of his kindness, creativity, and compelling love.
