Gabriel “Papo” Figueroa Sr., age 77, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Carmen A. Figueroa of over 50+ years, passed away into the glorious presence of the Lord on May 10, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital, in Bridgeport, CT. Gabriel was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico to the late Teofilo Figueroa and the late Quintina Carillo, but had relocated to the Bridgeport area over 60 years ago. A genuine man full of love and affection for all those around him, Gabriel was known for the amazing soul he had. Always smiling, he emitted joy and shared the peace, blessings and understanding that resided in his heart with those he knew. He was the life of every party he attended. He enjoyed watching the cooking channel, Tom and Jerry Cartoons and Western classics and loved gardening, animals, listening to his Jibaro music and of course watching a great game of the Mets (but only when they won). His amazing ability to talk to anyone and everyone always stood out. Children especially bonded with him wherever he went. They loved him and he loved to play and have fun with them. He enjoyed life to the fullest, but nothing was more evident than the commitment he had to his family. Nothing would give him more satisfaction than to see them excel and be the greatest they could be. He was truly a gem of a soul that very few, if any, can ever replace. In addition to his wife, Gabriel is survived by his daughter, Diana Figueroa Lorenzo and her husband Patrick, his son, Gabriel “Pete” Figueroa Jr. and his beloved grandchildren, Nathia Figueroa, Isaiah Figueroa, Janay Delvalle, Javon Delvalle, Patrick Lorenzo Jr., and Gia Lorenzo. He also leaves behind his siblings, Leonor Villanueva, Lydia Figueroa, Raul Figueroa, Gloria Negron, Geraldo Figueroa, Cruzita Vazquez, Carlos Figueroa, Amelia Figueroa and Jose Figueroa, his best friends Gustavo Lopez and his wife Marie, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends that will forever feel the void such a vital part of their lives once held. In addition to his parents Gabriel was predeceased by his granddaughter Isabella Figueroa and siblings Felix and Angel Figueroa. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where Father Rolando Torres will be officiating; Interment will follow shortly thereafter in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
