Flora Nieves, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 91. Born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, Flora relocated to New York at a young age and spent many years working diligently in the Garment District. Later, she made her home in the Bridgeport area, where she continued to touch the lives of those around her.
Flora was the cherished mother of Saul (Sonia) Salazar and Emanuel (Adriana) Salazar. She was a dear sister to Mike Nieves, Paul Nieves, Elizabeth Nieves, Matilda Nieves, and Lillian Nieves. Her legacy lives on through her 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her energetic and full-of-life spirit.
Known for her stern yet loving demeanor, Flora enjoyed playing Bingo, a thrilling trip to the casino, and a good party. She was an avid walker, often seen taking brisk walks that left even the most energetic companions challenged to keep up. Flora's no-nonsense attitude and vibrant energy made her a beloved figure for those who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Flora’s life during a viewing/visitation at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608. Flora’s memory will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to know her.
