Flor Estrella, at the venerable age of 79, gently departed this world on January 18, 2024, in Winter Springs, Florida, to be embraced in the eternal love of the Lord. Born under the warm sun of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to the late Manuel Quiles and the late Benedicta Torres. Flor's journey led her to the Mainland United States while still in the bloom of her youth. Her heart found a home in Bridgeport CT, where she lovingly nurtured her family alongside her late, cherished husband, Luis Estrella. Flor's life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, from her dedicated years at companies like Carnival Toys to her final, serene days in Florida.
Endowed with an irrepressible zest for life and a personality that sparkled like a star, Flor was a beacon of joy and vitality. Her passion for music and dance saw her gracing the dance floors of some of Bridgeport's iconic venues like the Crystal Ball Room, leaving a trail of delightful memories. A poignant recollection etched in the hearts of her children was her fond gaze upon the swaying palm trees, a tender echo of her Puerto Rican roots.
Flor's humor was a gift that lit up rooms and hearts alike. The presence of her grandchildren, the apples of her eye, was her ultimate joy, alongside the cherished moments spent with her children. Her arrival at family gatherings was a signal of joy to come, her energy infusing the air with warmth and laughter.
Her spiritual journey, rekindled in 1991, she saw her dlve deeper into her faith, embracing it with a fervor that was both inspiring and heartwarming. She was a member and served as an usher at the Iglesia de Dios Mission Board with pastors Ovidio & Maritza Reyes. Flor's love for others was a shining example to all, her heart an endless well of compassion and warmth.
Flor's legacy lives on through her loving daughters, Maritza Mendenhall (Shawn) and Annette Estrella; her siblings Javier, William, Lydia, Fernando, and Rafael; her steadfast sister-in-law Lucia Perez "Gara"; eight adoring grandchildren Ricky, Dominic, Amani, Ashley, Brandon, Tyler, Nataly and Makayla who called her “Morre” and five great-grandchildren, with the joyous anticipation of a sixth. Her spirit also lives on in the hearts of numerous relatives and friends, who feel her absence deeply yet celebrate the remarkable life she led.
