She was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico; daughter of Doming Rosario and Emerita Matos. Esther is the mother of Ruben Ruiz, Jr., David Ruiz, Evelyn Ruiz and Sonia Merced; the grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 11.
