In Loving Memory of

 Efrain (Frankie) Colón, Jr.

Proud Boricua, Devoted Family Man, and Beloved Community Leader

Efrain Colon, lovingly known as Frankie, age 52, of Stratford, Connecticut, passed into eternal rest on March 13, 2025, in New Haven, CT. Born in Westfield, Massachusetts, and raised in Bridgeport, Frankie lived a life rich in purpose, love, and community pride.

Frankie was the beloved husband of Denise Colon and a devoted father to Anthony (Mabel), Marc-Anthony, and Jon-Carlo. His grandchildren, Alexis and Mael, were a source of joy and brought endless smiles to his heart.

He is survived by his cherished parents, Zenaida Cruz and Efrain Colon, Sr., his siblings, Sandy (Richard) Lawrence, Cindy Colon, Carmen Colon, Amy Colon, Belitza Cruz, and Enid Cruz as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.

A graduate of Bassick High School, where he was valedictorian, Frankie earned his degree from the University of Bridgeport. He went on to dedicate his career to public service, first as a social worker, and most recently as a respected Parole Officer. His heart for others was evident in everything he did as he always sought to lift up those around him.

Frankie was deeply proud of his Puerto Rican roots and never missed an opportunity to celebrate his culture. As President of the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County for many years, he poured countless hours into planning events that brought joy, music, and our heritage to the streets of Bridgeport and beyond. From raising funds, to organizing floats, deciding on entertainment, and hosting celebrations, he was known to yell a 'Wepa' so that others knew that Boricuas were 'presente.' This earned him the moniker of 'Mr. Wepa.'

Known for his outgoing spirit, it was nearly impossible to go anywhere without someone recognizing him. He was the life of every gathering and made friends wherever he went. Whether dancing to salsa (especially salsa from his favorite artist, Marc Anthony) or blasting freestyle music, when Frankie showed up a gathering became a party. Frankie was also known for cooking his famous rice and sharing his signature coquito. His energy was infectious and unforgettable.

He loved traveling to Florida, connecting with loved ones, and living life to the fullest.

Frankie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, culture, and community — a true Boricua whose light will continue to shine in all who knew him.
