Edelmira Ramirez, age 77, returned into the loving arms of our Almighty Father on Monday, June 1, 2020 at her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut surrounded by her family. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico to Victor Nieves and Carmen Rios. She was a very strong and independent woman, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. A devoted Christian who depended on God for everything in her life and the lives of her children; her strong faith and prayers were what sustained the family during our toughest moments. She was funny and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren have many stories to tell on how competitive she was when playing games with them, more specifically "Trouble". She enjoyed the holidays, vacations, and just about any time she could to be around her loved ones. She took delight going to the malls and shopping for hours, even if she left the store empty-handed. Her keen eye for decorating could put HGTV to shame. She never turned down an opportunity to cook for family and friends, and there was not one neighbor that didn’t get the opportunity to experience her delicious cooking. Edelmira was very special and touched the lives of the many that knew her. She had a generous heart and donated to many different causes with St. Jude being her charity of choice. She was a true inspiration that throughout her struggles always kept a positive outlook. Edelmira was the glue that held her family together. Although, her physical presence is no longer here on earth, her spirit will live on in the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be in our hearts forever and ever!
Edelmira is survived by her children and spouses: Ruben and Esther Vargas, George and Myrna Vargas, Leon and Maria Vargas, Mike Vargas and Angelica Arrieta, and Damaris and Jose Rodriguez, her 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her brothers Jesus Nieves, Victor Nieves, JR Torres, sisters Myrna Rodriguez, Carmen Diaz, Olga Gamiddo, and Lucy Rivera, and a host of countless nieces and nephews.
